Top 10 Unique Places in Turkey - Shelly Burks - Travel Blogger 2023

Turkey is a dream destination and a country that you absolutely must visit. This article highlights the top 10 most beautiful places to visit in Turkey and the reasons why they are worth exploring.

KAS

Kas is a coastal town located just 7 km from the beautiful Kaputas Beach.

We assure you that you will absolutely love the cobblestone streets, colorful shuttered doors, friendly cats, souvenir shops, and especially the vine-covered restaurants that contribute to the unique charm of this city.

Kas is also one of the top destinations for diving enthusiasts.
In addition to countless fish species, you can swim alongside giant sea turtles and explore the underwater ruins of an ancient city. Pretty amazing and unique, isn't it?

KAPUTAS BEACH

It is said that the most beautiful landscape in Turkey can be found at Kaputas Beach. Here, you can admire the stunning scenery of lush green vegetation, cliffs, and the steps leading down to the beach.
Kaputas is an ideal place to capture Instagram-worthy photos.

As one of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey, it can get quite crowded around midday.
If you plan to spend a few hours here, I recommend going early in the morning, just after sunrise. You will have to descend 187 steps to reach the beach, but I believe the effort will be well worth it.

SAKLIKENT NATIONAL PARK

Saklikent National Park is located approximately 50km from Fethiye and is considered the third longest canyon in Europe.

At the entrance of the canyon, you will also find some restaurants serving traditional Turkish cuisine and hookahs. These riverside establishments provide a relaxing atmosphere where you can unwind and enjoy the most beautiful views.

KUSADASI

Located approximately 95km away from Izmir, you can make a stop at Kusadasi, as this town boasts a stunning beach called Kadinlar Denizi.

There are other interesting tourist spots worth visiting in Kusadasi, such as Pigeon Island, Dilek Peninsula, Ephesus Ruins, and Kusadasi Market. These are some fantastic locations where you can capture the most beautiful moments of nature.

Istanbul, attracting millions of tourists, is renowned for its vibrant markets filled with delicious food and colorful streets.

You can take a cruise along the Bosphorus, visit hookah cafes while enjoying the view of elegant seaside mansions and centuries-old impressive palaces. Spending a few days in Istanbul will ensure you have a memorable summer!

ANTALYA

Antalya is the most captivating tourist destination in Turkey due to the ancient ruins surrounding the city.

The Hadrian's Gate is a famous and highly photographed monument, built in honor of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, who visited Antalya in 130 AD.

Another attraction in Antalya is the stunning Duden Waterfall. With a depth of 40 meters, it cascades directly into the Mediterranean Sea.

You shouldn't miss a walk through the old town of Kaleiçi. It feels like a maze waiting to be explored, with Ottoman-style white-washed villas and red-tiled roofs lining the cobblestone streets. This neighborhood is filled with classic hotels, souvenir shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

PAMUKKALE

Pamukkale is a place that you must visit at least once in your lifetime. I assure you that you will love the famous white travertine terraces and the stunning turquoise natural pools.

It is a popular destination, so it can get quite crowded. I recommend arriving here early in the morning to have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the hot springs with a peaceful atmosphere.

If you prefer swimming, the Cleopatra Pool is ready to welcome you, or you can explore the numerous ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis that still exist here.

CAPPADOCIA
You may have heard of it before, Cappadocia is one of the top tourist attractions in Turkey. The caves, tunnels, underground cities, pottery shops, and stunning sunsets will make you fall in love with this place.

But the experience that will become your most beautiful memory here is the hot air balloon ride over the Cappadocia landscape.

Don't forget to add visits to Avanos, Pigeon Valley, Love Valley, and Uchisar Castle to your itinerary.

IZMIR

Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey and is a cool place that blends the remnants of the past with the modernity of the present.

You shouldn't miss Kemaraltı Bazaar when you visit here, as you may want to taste the colorful array of foods displayed on the stalls.

Additionally, make sure to visit Agora, an open-air museum showcasing the ruins of Smyrna, or you can go to Konak Square to admire the clock tower, which was built in 1901 by the French architect Raymond Charles Péré.

We recommend booking a city tour with a guide to easily take in the panoramic views of the city

ISTANBUL

BODRUM
Bodrum will remind you of the white houses in Santorini, except here they are not perched on cliffs but on hillsides.

We assure you that you will fall in love with Bodrum because these houses are adorned with stunning blue shuttered doors.

You can explore the bustling market area filled with various street foods, and what's more, the local vendors are friendly and eager to engage with tourists.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Aegean Sea on a boat cruise or explore the iconic Saint Peter's Castle, considered a symbol of the city.

This is a destination where you can enjoy with your family or on a trip with friends. What are you waiting for? Come visit Turkey and I believe you will love it.
